Frequently Asked Questions > Becoming a Mason > How does one become a Mason

2B1-ASK1!

Becoming a mason is something that you must do of your own free will and accord; it is for this reason that you will never be solicited to join Freemasonry.  You must take the initiative and ask.

It is preferred that you speak to a Mason you are acquainted with (friend, family, co-worker, etc), however, Masonry is aware that there are worthy men who may not necessarily know a Mason.  If this is the case, you can either consult the Grand Lodge of your state or attempt to contact your local lodge directly.
